Piggott School PTA
The PTA is a valued and vital part of the school community that aims to:
- Build positive relationships with parents, staff, students, governors and the wider school community;
- Raise funds that contribute to the specific needs of the school that help enrich the student experience;
- Provide an important platform for social engagement for parents;
- Raise the profile of The Piggott School and maintain our positive reputation in the community.

How does the PTA support the school’s curriculum?
PTA Christmas Fayre and KS3 Stalls
Year 7,8 and 9 students organise and run a Christmas stall at the schools Christmas fayre. They are responsible for setting up a float and managing their costs and expenses. Along with generating ideas as to how to make money through a variety of activities; some groups organise karaoke events, FIFA competitions, raffle and tombola’s. On average each stall will make around £40.
The activity teaches student’s teamwork, fundraising, finance management and creativity.
PTA Smarties Tube Competition
Year 7 and 8 students are each given a smarties tube. (They are allowed to eat the smarties!) They then fill the tube with as much money are possible and then return the tubes to school. On average student fill the tubes with £5.
The activity teaches the students about fundraising.
There is a pizza party for the winning tutor group.
Subject Equipment Bids
So far this academic year the PTA have spent £3,000 in supporting subjects purchase equipment that develop teaching and learning and in lesson experience for students. These items include, Portable lighting for Drama, mini speakers for Dance, chess boards for Board game club and a UV exposure unit for screen printing for Art and Photography.
JOIN THE PTA
We are always on the lookout for new members. We have a wonderful (but small!) set of volunteers who work hard to organise and lead events for the children.
It would be great to have more people to share the load, come up with ideas and start to think about events we can start to plan for the parent community as well as the children. We are currently looking for a vice chair and vice treasurer. Both roles sound ominous, but you will have help and support all the time.

Hi! I have a son in Y11 and a daughter in Y10 and I enjoy being part of the PTA. Outside of this, I work in operations for a local university and I love walking our black Labrador, Nugget, in and around Twyford. We moved to the area in 2020 after living in the US for 8 years, so it was a big change. The staff at Piggott made the international move really easy, so being able to give back to the school and see kids having fun at the events is rewarding.

I have a daughter in Year 11, and am really enjoying feeling closer to the school community through my involvement with the PTA. We have a great crew and have now gained momentum and gelled as a new team. We need more members to help us do more for the kids and the school, so please do come and join us! easyfundraising.org.uk is the UK's biggest ‘good cause’ shopping site, having already generated over £5million pounds in donations through online shopping. They currently have over 2700 retailers, 55,000+ good causes, and over 500,000 registered supporters. The owners of the site have recently taken ownership of Spend and Raise and are in the process of migrating all their causes over to easyfundraising.org.uk
Why not use it for business purchases as well? For example, office equipment, stationery, flights and hotels.
